The Bucs head into day two of the 2025 NFL Draft with a lot of their needs remaining on the board for them.
After taking what can be seen as a luxury pick in Emeka Egbuka, the team needs to focus on the defensive side of things with their second and third-round picks on Friday night. They cannot rely on putting up 50 points a game, they have to be able to stop teams as well. Ask the Chiefs how well that worked against the Eagles in the Super Bowl in February.
Here are the positions we see as their biggest needs heading into day two of the NFL Draft.
The safety group only lost Malaki Starks in round one, which means there is still a lot of value left on the board, as players like Nick Emmanwori and Kevin Winston Jr. remain. The Bucs want players who can force turnovers, and there are plenty of safeties on the board who do that, two of which we just mentioned. There is also Andrew Makuba, whom they could target in round three.
The Bucs have been trying to find a dominant pass rusher for years in the NFL Draft. This year, they are in a prime position to potentially get one in either the second or third round as the group is loaded in the 2025 NFL Draft. Jason Licht is hoping this is the year he breaks his streak of picking the wrong position. Thankfully, whoever he lands will be seen as a value, and the pressure won't be on them if it happens.
The Bucs had one of the worst pass coverage units in the NFL last year, mostly due to injuries. Despite that, they are moving Tykee Smith to safety, which leaves them needing to replace him at cornerback. Zyon McCollum and Jamel Dean need some backup, and they can get in the draft this year.
