No doubt they deserve part of the blame, not saying otherwise. They did allow Wiz to hire and keep Grimm around all these years.

Stop blaming the o-line. The problem is clearly at QB and the front office has had their input into that position over the years.

MB should have fired Whiz the day he named Skelton the starter over Kolb. That was a dick move. You make me pay a guy a huge bonus then put him on the bench week1? You're fired!

And I don't know this for sure but I'm willing to bet that Whisenhunt likely wanted to bring in a vet once Kolb went down and was shot down.
And rightfully so if that's the case. This guy told the Bidwills to scrap Leinart then told them DA was the guy for the job, no wait I mean Max Hall, I mean Rich Bartel, no wait guys it's really John Skelton. Hey guys, I know I said Skelton is it, but I really think you should invest your $60 million dollars into this Kevin Kolb guy as well as trade out #1 pick from two years back because he shows up to practice in baby outfits. Oh hey Michael remember that Kolb guy? He's not working lets play Skelton. Oh wait he got hurt lets play Kolb again, no wait now he's hurt but now all of a sudden Skelton sucks. Hey can you invest more millions in another QB?

No Wiz I can't. You created this mess you get us out of it. Now get the eff out of my office.

I mean really can anybody blame the Bidwills for not wanting to get Wiz another QB? He's wasted so much of their money on this nonsense already.

I agree, Kolb has been such a mess that if Whisenhunt gets fired over it I'm fine with that.

But the problem at QB started when the front office forced Leinart on Whiz long after he wanted him gone.

Never said they weren't rich. but they aren't arthur blank and to think they will ever run their business in the same manner that guys like him and Jerry Jones and the Redskins and Seahawks owner is beyond silly and quite frankly a little ludicrous.

In today's NFL you don't have to be a bazillionaire to run a team. If I'm not mistaken each team receives over $200 mil per year from their tv contract starting next year!!! $200 mil:D right now it's well over $100 mil/yr. there's also a salary cap, so basically every team is equal as to what they can do on the field.

But Michael is certainly better than his father no doubt but let's be honest that bar is set pretty damn low. Bill Sr. if born in the last ten years would've been diagnosed with some sort of mental illness. The guy's a complete weirdo. But MB is still widely despised by most of the power players in the Valley and still makes poor business decisions that involve the Cardinals and their other investments. I won't even go into the rest of the family screwups that are suckling off the NFL ****.

yup. I know a couple of people who have dealt with Michael on a business level and just abhor the guy.

if he wants to win, he'll put up or shut up about re: Wiz and actually bringing in a legit GM. Doing anything else in regards to those two situations and all his talk is lip service.

Don Coryell and The Super Bowl...

There's no way to ever prove this, especially since he has passed on but I heard/read that Coryell said back when he was in St. Louis, "We improve our special teams and we're going to the Super Bowl." Coryell was then fired and locked out of his own office! :bang: When you are this inept for this long something is seriously wrong. While I have given the Cardinals my loyalty (45+ years now) they have NEVER earned it! Coaches and players have come and gone. The only constant is the Bidwills'. Nothing more to say....

Problem was Coryells teams never had defense in Stl or SD, the talent other than 4-5 players was really lacking on that side of the ball.

Well they deserve part of the blame along with Whisenhunt. It was the front office that insisted on trying to get something out of the Leinart investment long after the coaching staff wanted to trade him away. They also went cheap and wouldn't bring in a vet in 2010 once Whiz told them Matty and DA couldn't get it done. And I don't know this for sure but I'm willing to bet that Whisenhunt likely wanted to bring in a vet once Kolb went down and was shot down.

Whiz deserves all the criticism he is getting but the Bidwills have never been (nor unfortunately will ever be) good NFL owners. The family's incompetence and dysfunction as a whole will never allow it. I have heard people compare them to the Bluth's.

Yep.

Just amazing that after all these years, people still don't recognize that there is one constant element throughout years of creating one of the most pathetic franchises in all of sports. With the exception of a 2 year period, we've been nothing less than a laughingstock.

Bidwills get a bad rap? Any serious sports town would have sent them out on a rail a long time ago. Their "results" are inarguable.

What I would give for a team that was competitive through November most years.

the Bidwills forced Kurt Warner, who had just taken this team to the Super Bowl, to go to San Francisco in order to get the contract he deserved.

there's no rap bad enough for those guys.

BS !! That move was all Kurt and maybe a little Brenda. Not the Bidwill's. He got greedy and pushed to break the bank on a two-year deal with ZERO intention of ever playing both seasons. Screw that.

I agree he did a bad job in the past, but in the past three years he has stepped aside and appears to have ceded control to others. He has been doing a really nice job with the contracts lately, getting key players extended long term.

So any success hes had came after he gave up control to others...

And the contracts thing. Hes done an Ok job. But is he any better than any other GM could do with that? Anyone can throw some numbers on paper and put it in front of a guy.

I place the QB situation and the Oline situation squarely on Graves and Whiz. And through those, this horrible team for the past 3 years are on them also.

Graves needs to get gone. And that (to come back to the main point of this thread) is why the Bidwills suck.

correct me if I'm wrong, but there has been a salary floor the past 2 years of 99% and 95% of the cap respectively (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/25/the-cba-in-a-nutshell/). So they didn't have much choice in whether or not they pony up the $$$

however, I do like the extensions of CC and DWASH before they got annoyed and walked because the FO wouldn't give them time of day like so many years in the past

Or maybe MB wanted Kolb and forced him on Wiz. Who's to say.
I was under the impression that Kolb was Fitz's choice. And nearing the end of his contract, it was important to lock up the face of the franchise

Being objective, I think we all should recognize that things have changed with the Cardinals. MB is now in charge, and to make comparisons to an era when his father was running things is wrong. That doesn't mean that MB always make the right decisions, but you have to look at "his" team and not go back to a different era, and say, "same old Cardinals". Unfortunately, we don't have a QB, and they are hard to come by. Luck, RG111, Tannehill, Dalton and Wilson (even Kapperneck) have all arrived on the scene, but it doesn't look like this year's draft will be QB friendly. But teams at the bottom have shown that they can rise quickly. JMO.

Agreed.

When Derek Anderson was our starting QB, just a year removed from going to the playoffs, this organization let Karlos Dansby, Antrel Rolle, and Anquan Boldin walk out the door.

The result was the team was 32 million under the cap.

If the Bidwills cared they would have spent the money, and brought in the right players at that time.

Heck, they would have re-signed Anquan Boldin whom we have yet to replace.

Shades of post-1998 success.

Convince the fan base it won't be 60 years between the next successful team.

That the excuses that the owners never had a stadium to make money in, or some lockout is causing complications, or that, or this, or blah, blah, blah is preventing them from being competitive with other organizations in acquiring talent.

There is still a lot to prove. Right now the only thing different is the team is losing 8 in a row, and not the standard 6 or 7 in a row.

Well I know 3 people who have delt with him business wise and two who've had interactions w/ MB in charity realated situations and they all have said he and the organization are class acts.

Got Greedy!?!?! A part ownership in the team wouldn't have been too much after what he did.

I'd sure like to know how all you guys know all this stuff that went on behind closed doors like forcing players on coaches and coaches wanting to trade or acquire certain players et al because I sure haven't seen it anywhere.

The problem with the Cardinals up until 2006 was threefold. They didn't know how to hire or pay coaches. They had a good old boy scouting department and they didn't have their own stadium. (Bidwills)

The problem we have now is also threefold. The failure of our top 10 first round QB in 2006 to pan out. The continued inability to build an offensive line they can keep together for more than one year. And finally the poor drafts of 2005-2008. (Everybody associated with the franchise)
