BATTLE CREEK ― The B.O.B. is ready for spring sports.
The Best Of Battle Creek series in the Enquirer is being expanded this year to include the top players on girls soccer teams throughout the area.
Each week, throughout the spring, we are going to ask, "Who is the Best of Battle Creek?" as we look at each position in girls soccer among the city/area high school teams.
Nominations for each position have come from the city/area coaches with a little information on each player. Then it will be up to the Enquirer readers to decide who is the B.O.B.

Each week we will give readers choices and open our online poll for voting, with a winner decided by the following Thursday with polls closing at noon.
Next up are the goaltenders for the city/area girls soccer teams:
School: Gull Lake
Class: Senior
Why she is the best goaltender in the city/area: According to her coach, 'Bella Carr has been a shutout machine in her fourth year as a starting goalkeeper, consistently delivering at a high level and anchoring the team’s defense. Her ability to come up with brilliant, game-changing saves sets her apart and gives her team confidence every time they step on the field.'
School: Calhoun Christian/St. Philip
Class: Sophomore
Why she is the best goaltender in the city/area: According to her coach, 'Riley Lauer plays with confidence beyond her years and is always ready to step up. She brings energy and leadership to the back line, making tough saves and keeping the team locked in from start to finish.'
School: Battle Creek Central
Class: Junior
Why she is the best goaltender in the city/area: According to her coach, 'Linda has sharp instincts and quick reactions, allowing her to make big saves when her team needs them most. She’s not afraid to come off her line, challenge attackers, and put her body on the line to protect the goal.'
School: Marshall
Class: Junior
Why she is the best goaltender in the city/area: In her first year of varsity soccer, Lauren Niemann has been a standout in goal, allowing just 14 goals in 15 games, with six shutouts. With good size, she has done a good job of developing her hands and footwork.
School: Pennfield
Class: Senior
Why she is the best goaltender in the city/area: Having a standout season for Pennfield, she played her best game recently in a 1-0 shutout of Olivet, stopping several great shots.
School: Lakeview
Class: Senior
Why she is the best goaltender in the city/area: A "team-first" leader, the multitalented Williams has made a seamless transition from a goal-scoring threat to the team's primary shot-stopper. Through the first nine games, she made 56 saves and had three shutouts.
School: Harper Creek
Class: Sophomore
Why she is the best goaltender in the city/area: Rylee Zumer has been a standout in goal for a Harper Creek team that finished the season at 11-3-3.
