Berks girls basketball: Wilson remains perfect in BCIAA play with win over Gov. Mifflin

Wilson stayed perfect in BCIAA play as the Bulldogs defeated Gov. Mifflin 66-50 in a BCIAA Division 1 girls basketball game on Tuesday night.

Kailani Hardy led Wilson (17-2, 10-0 Division 1) with 16 points, Laura Crocona had 15 and Ryan Leaman 13.

For the Mustangs (12-5, 8-2 Division 1), Bella Super had 19 points and Bridgit Martin 17.

Wilson bolted to a 24-12 lead after the first quarter, as Hardy scored 8 points, Crocona had 5 and Violet Houck scored 4 points.

The Bulldogs extended the lead to 35-21 at halftime with Jade Lee scoring 3 points, and Crocona, Leaman, Houck and Laila Jones each hitting 2-point baskets.

Gov. Mifflin tried to get back in the game, outscoring the Bulldogs 19-17 in the third quarter as Super had 7 points.

Wilson put the game away in the fourth quarter with balanced scoring, led by Leaman who made a 3-point basket and a 2-pointer.

Kutztown 55, Antietam 8

Kaitlyn Houptley scored 18 points to lead Kutztown to a 55-8 BCIAA girls basketball win over Antietam on Tuesday night.

The Cougars improved to 13-5 overall, 9-2 in Division 4. Antietam is 0-16, 0-10.

Also for Kutztown, Jayden Gehris had 11 points and Riley Derstine had 10.
