NEWARK – Bergen Catholic rising senior defensive end Jackson Vaughn announced his intention to play college football for Notre Dame.
Vaughn, who recently reclassed into the Class of 2027, made his announcement on CBS Sports network during a ceremony at the Prudential Center May 26. He listed his finalists as Auburn, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame and South Carolina.
As a sophomore, Vaughn finished with 40 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and eight sacks and was named second-team All-New Jersey by USA TODAY NETWORK NEW JERSEY.
The Crusaders won the Non-Public A state title in Vaughn’s freshman year, in a game where he finished with four sacks. Last season, Bergen Catholic finished 8-3 losing to Don Bosco in the semifinals.
Bergen Catholic will open the 2026 season at Central Catholic in Pittsburgh on Aug. 28.
Vaughn becomes the third high-profile North Jersey product to join Notre Dame. Don Bosco offensive lineman Aidan O’Neil committed to the Irish on May 1, while St. Peter’s Prep offensive lineman Oluwasemilore Olubobola also pledged to the Irish on May 12.
