The latest chapter of the Bergen Catholic-Don Bosco baseball rivalry yielded one of the biggest upsets of the high school baseball season.

The Crusaders scored three runs in the first inning, then held off a Don Bosco rally in the final inning to beat the Ironmen, 4-2, and knock them out of the North Non-Public A sectional tournament.

Don Bosco (21-5), the No. 2 seed, had not lost since April 14 and was ranked No. 2 in North Jersey after winning the Bergen County championship on Memorial Day.

Bergen Catholic (16-13), the No. 7 seed, got a complete-game two-hitter from Jael Santos and two RBIs each from Daniel Graziano and Thomas Harmke to spring the upset.

The rivals split the season series as they split two games in early April, and Don Bosco won 9-3 in the Bergen County tournament semifinals on May 16.

The Crusaders advance to face either No. 3 seed DePaul, which is ranked No. 1 in North Jersey, or No. 6 seed St. Peter's Prep in the North Non-Public A sectional semifinals on June 2.
