Lost in the buzz of the NFL draft over the last few days is something that might interest Cincinnati Bengals fans quite a bit:

The Bengals will get a special-edition jersey in the next few years.

During the draft, the NFL announced that a new "Rivalries" program will begin, giving two divisions' worth of NFL teams per year alternate jerseys based on the communities around the teams, similar to what the MLB and NBA do.

NFL EVP and chief revenue officer Renie Anderson told CBS Sports the following:

"The NFL is home to some of the biggest rivalries in football," Anderson said. "We decided to team up with Nike to allow fans and players to connect like never before with the Rivalries program because nothing brings communities together quite like a good rivalry. We know our fans and players are excited for games with their club's biggest rivals and wanted to make these even bigger. And we know our fans (especially our younger fans) and players get excited when their clubs wear unique and or special uniforms."

Unfortunately, it sounds like the Bengals will need to wait until 2028 to get the new jerseys. But Bengals fans can keep an eye on how they start to roll out when the AFC East and NFC West get them started next season.

But there is good news for Bengals fans -- the NFL quietly also expanded the use of alternate or throwback jerseys to four times per season for each team, so Cincinnati can still throw out more White Tiger and even throwback looks than usual next season.
