With the Cincinnati Bengals officially eliminated from playoff contention, mock drafts are going to be the big rage once again in Cincinnati as the team once again attempts to build a supporting cast on both sides of the football to help quarterback Joe Burrow.
One position where the Bengals can really use some help is at safety and a recent mock draft from Mike Renner of CBS Sports has the Bengals landing not only the consensus best safety in the class, but one of the best prospects overall in Ohio State safety Caleb Downs:
"The Bengals haven't been right at safety since Jessie Bates III left. That would change in a hurry with Downs back there. He's a do-it-all safety who's also an exceptional tackler."

This isn’t the first mock draft to feature Downs to the Bengals and the fit makes plenty of sense. The Bengals have been looking for help over the top ever since they let Jessie Bates leave for Atlanta and Geno Stone is a free agent after the season.
The Bengals are desperate for playmakers all over the place, but especially in the back end of the defense. While safety isn’t typically viewed as a premium position as much anymore, Downs is quickly becoming the exception to the rule.
