The Dalton Risner watch for the Cincinnati Bengals has come to a close.

Monday, The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. reported that the Bengals and Risner agreed to a contract extension.

Risner joined the Bengals just before last season and, when healthy, stabilized a guard spot that has long haunted the franchise. He was a key part of the best offensive line of the Joe Burrow era to date.

Commentary from Duke Tobin at the scouting combine caused some slight, perhaps overblown concern that the contract talks would run right into free agency itself.

Instead, the Bengals make sure to get it done and cross one major need off the list.
