Popular pre-draft areas of need for the Cincinnati Bengals include the front seven and secondary of the defense, which given how things went last year, is totally understandable.

But don’t sleep on the need at linebacker, either.

Rookies Demetrius Knight and Barrett Carter had their very obvious issues. But it let a flop of a free-agent signing at the position go overlooked. Never mind the weird Logan Wilson-Cowboys saga, too.

Given this, it makes sense that Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport has tabbed the Bengals as a fit for Carolina Panthers linebacker Christian Rozeboom:

“Christian Rozeboom of the Carolina Panthers is hardly a household name at the position, but two years ago he posted 135 total tackles in 17 games and 11 starts for the Los Angeles Rams. That got him a one-year deal with the Panthers, where he wore the green dot helmet communicator and paced the team with 122 total stops.”

The Bengals aren’t going to spend big at linebacker, but they can’t sit still, either. All else fails, they’re going to need a veteran who can actually step into the base defense and help, unlike the guys they had behind the rookies last year.

Rozeboom, 29 years old and with a projected market value of $3 million over one year, certainly seems to fit and should be a quiet addition to most wishlists this offseason.
