Cincinnati Bengals players recently hit the interview circuit this offseason and inevitably found themselves asked about Joe Burrow’s future.
Bengals wideout Tee Higgins perhaps said it best about the entire situation, really.
Speaking with Fox 19’s Jeremy Rauch, Higgins threw out this comment about speculation around Burrow: “It’s very weird to me, I find it strange.”
Ditto.
Burrow was open with the media about his feelings late last season while also seemingly sending some subtle messages to his front office. NFL fans and some media outlets ran with it, indeed making strange predictions about his playing future.

That capped off recently with outright fake rumors about other teams keeping an eye on Burrow.
Rauch’s conversation with Higgins shifted more toward the star wideout and his recent ability to shake off injury woes that have held him back at times:
"My main thing is just being consistent and staying on the field. Cutting out all of the injuries that have happened in previous years. But yeah, that's been my main thing, just, you know, just try to be consistent and always give our quarterback a target. That is a safe target. That's just been my motto I've been going by."
If the Bengals, including Burrow, can stay healthy and get an improved defense on the field in 2026, all of this late-season stuff around the quarterback will indeed look very silly in hindsight.
