Fans of the Cincinnati Bengals and former Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson weren't thrilled with a tweet from ESPN's Damien Woody about longtime New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick not being a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer.
"There is no world where Ken Anderson should get a vote over Bill Belichick," Woody tweeted.
On Dec. 3, Anderson and Belichick were named two of five finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2026.
Former Bengals great Willie Anderson, one of 15 modern-era player finalists for this year's class, was among those coming to Ken Anderson's defense in the replies of Woody's tweet.
"He's been waiting for a long time bro," Willie Anderson replied. "Woody bro good look at Kenny's resume. When you get a chance please check him out bro. National media like yourself can help this situation. We all believe Bill should be in. But Check Out Kenny compared to his peers that are in. Do you boy that favor."
In December, Woody was appearing on ESPN's "Get Up" when he said Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has "no joy from the game right now." Woody added that he felt like Burrow "needs a fresh start somewhere else."
