The New York Knicks are set to get the documentary treatment from comedian and filmmaker Ben Stillerfollowing their recent, historic NBAtitle triumph.

The project was confirmed by Stiller during a recent podcast appearance and on his official X account. He also revealed that he is working on the documentary with the league’s leadership’s “full cooperation” and shared details about the production timeline.

Ben Stiller Says He Is ‘Really Excited’ About Knicks Doc

Stiller has officially confirmed plans to make a documentary about the NBA champion New York Knicks.

The project had long been rumored, but it is now set to move forward, as Stiller revealed during an appearance on a podcast hosted by Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart.

“I’m really excited to announce that we are making a documentary about the New York Knicks for HBO with A24,” the comedian said on the “Roommates” podcast.

Stiller also noted that it was not an independent project, but rather one being made with the “full cooperation of the NBA and MSG.”

Having Finals MVP Brunson and fellow champion Hart by his side also appeared to confirm that key figures within the Knicks organization were fully on board with giving him extensive access to film the project as he envisions.

Given the timing of the announcement, speculation has already been swirling that the project will follow the current team’s season through its NBA Finals victory.

However, Stiller shared that this will not be the sole focus, as the project intends to cover “all eras of the Knicks” and “trace the full arc of the franchise from the ’90s to the improbable, record-breaking run that finally returned a championship to New York.”

Work on the project has already begun, Stiller also revealed, noting that it started “a little bit before the playoff run.”

More work will likely be done over the next year as the Knicks begin a new season as defending champions.

Stiller also shared the announcement on his official X account, where it was met with an enthusiastic response from fans.

“You make us all proud, man. The best fan. Can’t wait to watch this, appointment viewing,” one excited fan commented.

“I hope there is a purchase option. Digital media is almost impossible to own. I want to watch this indefinitely,” another user remarked, with a third adding, “This is gonna be amazing. Thanks for all the hard work. Can’t wait for it to come to fruition.”

One more fan further hyped the project, saying, “With Ben Stiller on the job, this documentary could be the second coming of the last dance.”

“I hope it includes the parade and everything from tomorrow, it was a victory for the whole city,” another supporter wrote.

The New York Knicks Could Make Historic White House Visit

Following their NBA championship victory, the New York Knicks have received an invitation to visit the White House. The news was confirmed by team owner James Dolan during an appearance on WFAN on Wednesday afternoon, per Deadline.

“We just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted,” said the American business owner, adding that he and the team “still have to work out the details” of honoring the invite.

Unlike the Knicks, several recent NBA champions opted not to visit the White House during Trump’s presidency. The Oklahoma City Thunder, last season’s champions, cited scheduling conflicts for their decision, while the Lakers, Nuggets, Raptors, and Warriors all declined invitations during Trump’s first term.

If the Knicks ultimately honor the invite, they will become the first NBA champions to visit the White House under Trump across either of his two terms in office.

The New York Knicks’ decision to accept the White House invitation appears to have been influenced, at least in part, by owner James Dolan’s close relationship with Donald Trump.

During his appearance on WFAN, Dolan described the president as a “friend” and expressed enthusiasm about accompanying the team on the White House visit.

“He is a friend. I’ve known him for 30 years. And I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House,” Dolan shared at the time.

For now, it remains unclear whether the players share Dolan’s enthusiasm for the visit. However, regardless of their personal views, team expectations could still pressure them to attend if the visit is confirmed.
