The Yankees will be without both Ben Rice and Jose Caballero as they face-off with the Rangers in the rubber match of a three-game set Thursday afternoon in the Bronx.
Rice is missing his fourth consecutive game as he deals with a hand injury.
Aaron Boone revealed that the slugging infielder hasn't done much baseball activity yet in an effort to not aggravate it, but the team still doesn't expect him to require a trip to the injured list.
Boone is hoping Rice will at least be an option off the bench Wednesday, but still isn't sure.
As for Caballero, he's still dealing with some swelling in his elbow, but is in good spirits and expects to be available.
The starting shortstop, of course, was in visible discomfort after being hit by a Nate Eovaldi curveball on the left elbow Wednesday but he was able to remain in the game.
Both Rice and Caballero have gotten off to spectacular starts this season.
