Jan. 30—BLAINE — The Bemidji High School boys hockey team was sitting pretty midway through the third period.

The Lumberjacks had a 4-0 lead over Gentry Academy. Dawson Schoonover scored twice and Christian Hill was having another big game in net.

Then the Stars got hot.

Gentry Academy scored three times in the final four minutes to make it a game, but BHS hung on for a 4-3 win.

Along with Schoonover's two goals, Taevon Welle and Griffin Dewar also scored. Cal Mattfield, Landon Knott, Wesley Truax and Welle each recorded at least one assist.

Hill continued his fantastic senior season in the BHS (9-9-1) crease. He stopped 50 of the 53 shots he faced in the win.

Gentry Academy (9-9-1) got goals from Braden Bois, Jaxon Cook and Collin Hennes in the third period. Gavin Grose made 19 saves.
