Florida lacrosse anticipated a buzz Saturday from Arizona State.

Instead, the Gators dealt with an opponent that packed far more sting than the Sun Devils:

A swarm of bees.

Yes.

Bees.

UF lacrosse’s Big 12 opener vs. ASU was postponed until Sunday at 1 p.m. ET due to an infestation of bees at the Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium.

The game, originally set for Saturday at 1 p.m. ET, was delayed until 9 p.m. ET as officials in Tempe tried to hold down the hungry hive.

Eventually, officials decided to push the game back to Sunday at the same time. Streaming information for the game has yet to be determined.

The seventh-ranked Gators entered this weekend’s contest with a 7-2 record and on a four game winning streak. The two losses – to No. 9 Michigan and No. 4 Navy – came by a combined five goals.

The Sun Devils enter 5-6 and with three consecutive losses to Mercer, Navy and Stanford.

Florida has won the Big 12 in its first two seasons and has yet to lose a conference game.

UF returns home after Sunday’s contest for a date with No. 14 Colorado, while the Sun Devils head to Cincinnati for another Big 12 contest.
