The Chicago Bearsgot an absolute steal in the second round with the selection of Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III. Even though receiver was not an urgent position of need for the Bears, head coach Ben Johnson brought in another playmaker for the offense and second-year quarterback Caleb Williams.

Coming into the draft, Burden was projected to be a first-round pick as one of the top receivers available in this draft class. Falling into the second round has put a chip on his shoulder, and he made that message clear when he met with the media at Halas Hall after being drafted, telling all the teams who passed on him that he's put them on notice.

"It's pretty much behind me now," Burden said when asked about falling to the second round. "But, you know, it's always in the back of my head that teams chose other people above me. So, I'll see them."

Burden's comments come after he was the sixth receiver selected in the 2025 draft, and he now joins a receiver room headlined by DJ Moore and Rome Odunze.

Burden is not short on talent, and now that he's playing with a chip on his shoulder to send a message around the league to the teams who passed on him, it should excite Johnson even more. The atmosphere around this Bears team this offseason has been a drastic change from recent history, and adding more determined, highly-skilled playmakers like Burden is only going to take the offense to another level.
