The Chicago Bears are bringing back an important member of the offense. According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bears are re-signing quarterback Case Keenum on a two-year, $5.5 million deal that is worth up to $8 million.
Keenum joined the Bears last offseason as their third-string quarterback and served as a mentor to starter Caleb Williams. The long-time veteran only saw action in the preseason and did not attempt a pass in the regular season. At age 38, there was some speculation Keenum could retire.
Instead, he rejoins the Bears and will at the very least continue to be the third-string quarterback. There's a chance he could elevate to the primary backup if the Bears wind up trading Tyson Bagent this offseason, who has garnered some interest going into free agency.
