It looks like the Chicago Bears won't need to find a new offensive coordinator for the 2026 season after all. According to NFL insider Dianna Russini, Declan Doyle has withdrawn his name from consideration for the vacant offensive coordinator position with the Philadelphia Eagles and will remain in Chicago with head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams. Doyle interviewed for the position last week after the Eagles parted ways with Kevin Patullo.
Doyle was hired by Johnson away from the Denver Broncos last winter as the youngest offensive coordinator in the NFL at just 28 years old. While Johnson was the primary playcaller, Doyle was instrumental in the Bears' offensive success, installing gameplans, scouting future opponents, and working closely with the head coach and offensive staff on strategies.
With Johnson and Doyle, the Bears compiled a regular season record of 11-6 to finish atop the NFC North division and boasted a top-10 offense in the process. Williams became one of the best quarterbacks in the conference in 2025, while the duo of D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai produced a top-five rushing attack.
Seeing the success the Bears had, the Eagles requested to interview Doyle, who would have had the chance to call plays for a playoff team. Ultimately, Doyle opted to remain in Chicago to continue working with Johnson, Williams, and the rest of the offense, giving the Bears continuity at a crucial coaching position.
