Tyson Bagent has served as the backup quarterback for the Chicago Bears over the last few seasons, but one NFL analyst believes the team should look to trade Bagent as soon as next Thursday's NFL Draft.

USA Today's Jack McKessy listed Bagent as the Bears' top trade candidate for the 2026 draft in Pittsburgh.

"Bears head coach Ben Johnson said he believes Bagent is a top-32 quarterback in the NFL. If another team feels the same way, the former undrafted free agent could be on the move come draft night," McKessy said.

Rams, Steelers, and Jets could have interest in Bagent

Bagent's name came up in trade discussions during the NFL combine, but no move has been made to this point.

Though Bagent hasn't played much in the regular season over the last two years, the Shephard product impressed during the 2025 preseason last year, proving that he is one of the top backups in the sport.

However, with Caleb Williams locked in as the quarterback of the future and the Bears already receiving calls on Bagent, general manager Ryan Poles could move the former undrafted free agent for the right price.

The Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Jets could have interest in acquiring Bagent.

Los Angeles still needs a backup quarterback, and though bringing back Jimmy Garoppolo is a solid option, trading for Bagent to develop behind Matthew Stafford would be a much more logical move for the future.

Pittsburgh expects Aaron Rodgers to return as their starter in 2026, but if the franchise wants to bring in another young signal-caller to compete with Will Howard and Mason Rudolph, Bagent could emerge as a target.

However, acquiring Bagent would make much more sense for the Steelers if Rodgers doesn't re-sign and opts to retire.

New York could also add Bagent to be the No. 2 quarterback and provide some competition behind Geno Smith, whose starting job shouldn't be set in stone after a rough 2025 campaign with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Bears could retain Bagent for another year to serve as Williams' backup once again, but trading him is also a possibility if the right offer comes on the table.
