With tailgate season just around the corner, Sam Houston fans have an opportunity to BBQ at Bowers with a new taste.
Jank BBQ has partnered with Sam Houston Athletics to create a gourmet BBQ sauce for Bearkat fans. The sauce is smoked pecan citrus flavored.
“We are excited to introduce this branded BBQ sauce as a unique extension of the Bearkat spirit. Our collaboration with The Jank Gourmet BBQ Sauce brings together a shared appreciation for tradition, community and Texas culture.” Russell Martinez, Sam Houston’s Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Branding Collegiate Licensing, said. “This locally inspired product gives alumni, students, fans and supporters another way to celebrate their connection to Sam Houston State University. We are proud to partner with The Jank to create a flavor experience that reflects the energy and pride of the Bearkat community.”
The BBQ sauce is currently available for preorder, with four different package options. The Cubsize option features two 7–oz bottles of Bearkats Smoked Pecan Citrus Gourmet BBQ Sauce and can be purchased for $12, plus shipping.
Taste the Legacy comes with two glass bottles of the sauce and a numbered certificate of authenticity on premium card stock. The package costs $29.99, plus shipping.
BBQ Jank also offers a founding fan package, with three glass bottles of BBQ sauce, one Jank beef jerky, one seasoning and a numbered certificate for $49.95.
The last package is the legacy founder for $149.99. It includes six glass bottles, two Jank Beef Jerky, two Jank All-Purpose seasonings, an additional bottle of Jank BBQ sauce, a Legacy Founder Certifcate and an invite to the VIP Pre-Launch Event.
“This partnership is about more than BBQ sauce,” The Jank Gourment BBQ Sauce founder Lamar Jones said. “It’s about building a legacy where Bearkat pride, entrepreneurship and student opportunity come together to create something that will impact future generations.”
Preorders for the BBQ Sauce are open now, with the product expected to launch on Aug. 14th with a pickup time from 5:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the Katy & E. Don Walker Sr. Education Center Sam Houston Memorial Museum Complex in Huntsville. You can also elect to ship it to you.
The BBQ Sauce is set to be on the shelves of the HEB in Huntsville on Aug. 15.
