Bayern Munich might have found its answer to the question of who will back-up Luis Díaz in 2025/26 — Arijon Ibrahimović.

Ibrahimović had been considered a top prospect at Bayern Munich, but his shine began to dull a bit in 2023 as he had plateaued in his development. After scuffling for a few seasons on loans at Frosinone and Lazio, Ibrahimović hoped for the third time to be charm as he embarked on a new adventure at Heidenheim for 2024/25.

While Heidenheim was relegated, Ibrahimović impressed pundits, fans, and Bayern Munich personnel alike with his play as he tallied two goals and five assists in 34 games across all competitions. Still just 20-years-old (seriously), the Bavarians want to give him a chance with the first team…if he wants it.

Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau has the details:

FC Bayern has made Arijon Ibrahimović an offer to extend his contract. Another loan is not currently planned. He is expected to take on a role as a squad player who can fill in at various positions. If he does not extend, he will be sold – because his current contract only runs until 2027. Ibrahimovic now has to decide. Clubs from the Bundesliga, Premier League, and Eredivisie are showing concrete interest. @SkySportDE

Ibrahimović moved all over the pitch in Heidenheim’s attack per Transnfermarkt:

  • Left Wing: 15 games
  • Right Winger: 10 games
  • Attacking Midfield: 5 games
  • Left Midfield: 2 games
  • Right Midfield: 1 game

If Ibrahimović decides to stay at Bayern Munich he would — conceivably — save the club money as it would not seek to bring in another attacker.

If you are a real cynic, though, you could perceive this as a story leaked to give Bayern Munich some bargaining power as Ibrahimović has reportedly garnered a lot of interest throughout Europe for his play at Heidenheim.
