According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt are closing in on an agreement for left-back Nathaniel Brown:

⏳ EXCL | Eintracht and FC Bayern are moving significantly closer in negotiations over Nathaniel Brown.

Both clubs have made concessions. Package worth up to €55m now realistic. Final talks focused on fixed fee and add-ons.

It would be an absolute record fee for a German full-back. Medical not expected to be an issue.

In normal discourse on X, Plettenberg was challenged on the figure of €55 million, but said that the sale price was never going to be €65 million, as had been rumored:

It was NEVER about 65. We have repeatedly denied these reports. It was always about 60. Approximations factored in. 55 absolutely realistic and would be top for both clubs.

If the move goes through, Brown will go down as the third or fourth most expensive left-back transfer in history. Why the ambiguity? Transfermarkt has Lucas Hernandez’s transfer to Bayern Munich list with him as a left-back. In reality, he played more center-back in Bavaria:

  • Lucas Hernández, Bayern Munich: €80 million
  • Marc Cucurella, Chelsea FC: €65 million
  • Benjamin Mendy, Manchester City: €57 million
  • Ben Chilwell, Chelsea FC: €50 million
  • Álvaro Carreras, Real Madrid: €50 million
