VILLINGEN-SCHWENNINGEN, GERMANY - JULY 17: (BILD ZEITUNG OUT) Jamie Lawrence of FC Bayern Muenchen, Tanguy Nianzou of Bayern Muenchen, Tim Lemperle of 1.FC Koeln and Bouna Sarr of Bayern Muenchen battle for the ball during the Pre-Season Friendly Match between FC Bayern Muenchen and 1. Tanguy Nianzou signed for Bayern Munich upon the expiry of his Paris Saint Germain contract in 2020, shortly before the completion of the 2020 treble, in which the Bavarians would once again triumph over the Qatari’s puppets. Billed as a big talent at the Parisians, Bayern were very happy to have secured his signature.

But the young French center back was never able to escape the role of fourth choice center-back behind the likes of Jérôme Boateng, Niklas Süle, Lucas Hernandez and eventually Dayot Upamecano. Ergo he left nearly as suddenly as he arrived, signing for Sevilla for a reported sum of around 20 million euros, with a buy back clause and sell on clause included.

That sell on clause will now kick into action. German news site Fußballtransfers (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER) has the details:

Tanguy Nianzou is moving from FC Sevilla to OSC Lille. The transfer fee is in the range of € 3-6 million . Bayern stands to earn from the deal. This means the agreed-upon bonuses of 4 million € will become fully due. In addition, Bayern had secured a share of any future resale.

Of course, the exact value of the sell on clause tends to be nebulous at best with these kind of deals. We do know how much Bayern earns from the sell on clause from academy player Jamie Lawrence’s transfer to Austrian club WSG Tirol, as he joined Belgian Pro League club OH Leuven in a recent deal. Unfortunately, as @iMiaSanMia_GER captures, the total sum is bupkis:

Jamie Lawrence has transferred from WSG Tirol to OH Leuven without a transfer fee. As a result, the resale participation clause that FC Bayern secured upon his departure in 2024 does not apply.

23-year-old Lawrence has decided to move on despite playing regularly for Tirol and even captaining the team at some point. The colossus of a center back will have had his reasons for the move.
