Following Bayern Munich’s 2-1 preseason victory over Jeju SK, Tom Bischof offered an encouraging assessment of where the team stands as preparations for the new season continue.
The midfielder acknowledged that there is still room for improvement, but believes the squad is making steady progress as more players return and the team spends additional time together on the training pitch.
“Everyone is happy that the squad is getting back together, and you can feel that we’re getting better. Of course, it still takes a bit of time. It was incredibly hot today. During preseason, it’s normal that not everything clicks straight away. That’s why I think we’ll take another few steps forward against Aston Villa, and then things will look even better,” Bischof told FCBayern.com.
His comments reflect the reality of Bayern Munich’s preseason. With several internationals only recently rejoining the squad and new signings still settling into Vincent Kompany’s system, the team is very much a work in progress. Chemistry, match fitness, and tactical understanding all take time to develop, particularly after a busy summer.
Bischof also pointed to the challenging conditions in South Korea, where the heat added another layer of difficulty to an already demanding preseason fixture. Despite that, Bayern Munich came away with another victory and valuable minutes for players throughout the squad.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a strong preseason himself, continuing to earn Kompany’s trust with composed performances in midfield. As one of the players who has been with the squad throughout the entire preparation period, Bischof is among those helping establish the rhythm and intensity the coaching staff wants heading into the new campaign.
With Aston Villa next on the schedule, Bischof expects Bayern Munich to take another step forward. If the squad continues progressing at its current rate, the German champions should enter the start of the Bundesliga season with confidence and growing cohesion.
