Basic Instinct 2 is Moving Forward
Source: Variety
October 13, 2004

Basic Instinct 2 is moving closer to getting the greenlight. The Sharon Stone sequel has secured financing from German film fund IMF3, film group InternationalMedia announced Tuesday. Variety says the move reunites InternationalMedia's Intermedia and IMF with C-2 Pictures' Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar, the team behind last year's Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

While it's still unclear when filming will begin, the budget is expected to exceed $70 million. Michael Caton-Jones is directing the MGM sequel and InternationalMedia said the male lead should be announced in the coming weeks.

David Morrissey Follows His Basic Instinct
Source: Variety
January 7, 2005

David Morrissey has landed the male lead opposite Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction, which Michael Caton-Jones will direct in London this March.

In the script by Leora Barish and Henry Bean, Stone's Catherine Tramell relocates from San Francisco to London and quickly finds herself on the wrong side of the law. Morrissey plays a criminal psychologist assigned the task of evaluating her by Scotland Yard. She may finally have met her match in the shrink.

Variety says Intermedia has financed the film with a domestic distribution deal at MGM, with C2 Pictures partners Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna brokering international rights.

Morrissey just starred opposite Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen in Derailed, Miramax's adaptation of the James Siegel novel, and The Wild and Wycked World of Brian Jones, based on the life story of the Rolling Stones guitar player.

Stone Reveals Basic Instinct 2 Secret
Source: Associated Press
February 25, 2005

Sharon Stone told Access Hollywood that her character, Catherine Tramell, will have a bisexual relationship in the sequel Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction.

"There is lesbian love," Stone said, "We're testing for her now."

Stone said she was surprised at the attention her interrogation scene in the original 1992 Basic Instinct movie received. "People still want to see some more of that," she said with a laugh. When asked if that was the plan for the sequel, she smiled and replied, "You can spend your $12 and go find out for yourself."

In the follow-up slated for release in 2006, Catherine relocates from San Francisco to London and quickly finds herself on the wrong side of the law. David Morrissey plays a criminal psychologist assigned the task of evaluating her by Scotland Yard. She may finally have met her match in the shrink.
