Wyandotte unleashed a 7-run avalanche in the bottom of the third that flipped a tie game into a runaway victory.

Just one night after Sequoyah rolled to a 10-0 win in the District 3A-6 opener, the Bears returned the favor Tuesday, defeating the Eagles 10-3 behind a dominant offensive outburst and a perfect day at the plate from Hunter White.

White was the game’s biggest standout, going 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs while anchoring Wyandotte’s 10-hit attack.

Hagen Lankford added 2 hits, and Tayton Threet reached base multiple times with 2 walks while stealing 2 bases as the Bears showed patience at the plate with 6 free passes.

For Sequoyah [1-1, 1-1 District 3A-6], Lucas Howard delivered one of the team’s key moments with an RBI single that briefly tied the game in the third.

Howard, Jaxon Thompson, Ryder Smalley and Derick Cole each recorded a hit, while Howard, Thompson and Cole drove in the Eagles’ 3 runs.

Wyandotte starter Kason Threet limited Sequoyah to 3 hits and 2 runs [1 earned] across 4 innings while striking out 3 and walking 1.

Eagles starter Tyson Ketchum was tagged for 8 runs — 7 earned — over 2 1/3 innings before Sequoyah turned to its bullpen.

The Bears [1-1, 1-1] wasted little time taking control early.

In the bottom of the first, Lankford singled and later moved to third after Tayton Threet reached base. Terry Hembree then grounded out to bring Lankford home for a 1-0 lead.

Moments later, White delivered the first big swing of the night, ripping a triple to right field that scored Tayton Threet and pushed Wyandotte ahead 2-0.

The Eagles answered in the second.

Smalley singled and advanced to third following a passed ball, and Cole then lifted a sacrifice fly that allowed Smalley to score, trimming the deficit to 2-1.

Sequoyah pulled even in the third.

Jayse Miller drew a walk and stole second before Howard lined an 0-2 pitch down the left-field line for an RBI single, bringing Miller home to tie the game at 2.

That momentum, however, lasted only minutes.

The Bears turned the game completely on its head in the bottom of the third when Tayton Threet and Hembree opened the inning with walks before White delivered again, lining an RBI single to right to give Wyandotte a 3-2 lead.

Kason Threet followed with a run-scoring single to center, and an error in right field allowed another run to score as the lead ballooned to 5-2.

The biggest blow came moments later when Avery Lofland ripped a single to left that plated 2 runs and stretched the margin to 7-2.

The inning kept rolling as Talon Wyrick launched a triple to right field that drove in another run, and he later scored on a passed ball to cap the 7-run surge and push the lead to 9-2.

The Bears tacked on another run in the fourth.

After Tayton Threet walked and stole second, White delivered his fourth hit of the night — a single to left — that brought Tayton Threet home and extended the lead to 10-2.

The Eagles managed one final run in the seventh, though.

Miller walked and advanced into scoring position before Thompson grounded out, allowing Miller to cross the plate and make it 10-3.

However, the rally ended there as Wyandotte closed out the win to split the two-game district series.

Sequoyah closes the week with a pair of nondistrict home games Thursday and Friday against Sperry and Catoosa, respectively.
