>> Kuhio Aloy (Baldwin), Arkansas: Only got one at bat in the SEC Tournament but hopes to be healthy beginning Friday when the Hogs open the NCAA Tournament against Missouri State in Lawrenceville, Kan. Nolan Souza (Punahou) had three hits in the conference tournament and drove in two runs but went 0-for-3 in the conference championship.
>> Nu‘u Contrades (Saint Louis), Arizona State: Scored three runs on two hits in two games of the Big 12 tournament, highlighted by a leadoff triple in a loss to West Virginia when the Sun Devils were limited to three hits. Despite the loss, Arizona State will open its 43rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament when they open against Mississippi on Friday.
>> Cody Kashimoto (Punahou), Saint Mary’s: Helped the Gaels repeat as West Coast Conference champions, gathering six hits in the five games of the tournament and driving in three in a 13-4 win over Gonzaga. Saint Mary’s is in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year, opening against UCLA in Los Angeles on Friday.
>> Keoni Painter (KS-Maui), BYU: Had three hits in two games at the Big 12 Tournament, giving him 70 hits in his 100th career game. He is hitting .254 in his three years with the Cougars, scoring 56 runs and driving in 36.
>> Makani Tanaka (‘Iolani), Oral Roberts: Was named to the Summit League all-tournament team even though the Golden Eagles fell a victory short of the championship. He had six hits in the five games of the tournament, scoring five runs and driving in four to finish his senior season with a .329 batting average in 69 career games. Fellow senior Wailele Kane-Yates (Kauai) .329 in 108 games with the school and paired hits in the championship game.
>> Ethan Thomas (Mililani), Northern Kentucky: Had three hits and drove in a run in a 14-2 loss to Milwaukee, then went 0-for-4 in a 5-3 loss to Oakland to end the season. He hit .328 in his lone season with the Norse, closing his college career with a .316 average in 59 games after starting his career with Utah.
>> Sean Yamaguchi (Saint Louis), Nevada: Launched his 14th home run of the season but it wasn’t enough as the Wolf Pack fell to New Mexico 13-4 in a Mountain West play-in game. Yamaguchi finished the season with a .310 average and was second on the team in home runs. Lee Matsuzaki (Mid Pacific) hit .321 but only got into 26 of the team’s 50 games.
MEN’S GOLF
>> Tyler Loree (Seabury Hall), UCLA: Tied for 13th place at the Corvallis Regional, bouncing back from a 74 in the first round with a 67 and 68 to help the Bruins take second place and earn a trip to its second straight NCAA Championship. The final will begin Friday in Carlsbad, Calif.
WOMEN’S GOLF
>> Raya Nakao (Punahou), Oregon State: Finished in 105th place in the NCAA Championships with rounds of 75-75 and 74 on the difficult layout at the Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, Calif. Freshman Kate Nakaoka (Mililani) improved each day with scores of 78, 76 and 75 to tie for 134th. The Beavers finished in 30th place.
SOFTBALL
>> Ailana Agbayani (’Iolani), Oklahoma: Went hitless with a walk in three games as the Sooners lost two of three games to Mississippi State in a Super Regional. The Chicago Bandits top draft pick finishes her college career with a .357 batting average with 177 runs scored and 119 RBIs in 226 games. She walked 94 times to 59 strikeouts. She was also 10-4 with an earned run average of 3.71 as a pitcher.
>> Natalie Ching (‘Iolani), Case Western Reserve: Went hitless in an NCAA Division III Super Regional sweep at the hands of Virginia Wesleyan after her heroics got the Spartans that far. She ends her freshman year with a .267 average, 20 runs and 16 RBIs in 44 games.
>> Jackie Kirkpatrick (Mililani), Tennessee: Hasn’t played since the beginning of April but is going to her third Women’s College World Series as the Volunteers begin the tournament against Texas on Thursday.
>> Kennadie Tsue (‘Iolani), Biola: She drove in three runs three games of an NCAA Super Regional loss to Cal State San Marcos. The junior ends her season with a .278 batting average with 31 runs scored and 35 driven in over 65 starts. Her 180 at bats and seven sacrifice hits are single-season program records.
MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD
>> Shane Kawakami-Williams (Hawaii Baptist), Occidental: Finished in 17th place in the 200 meters with a time of 21.62 seconds at the NCAA Division III Championships and 21st in the 100 meters with a 10.68. He entered the event ranked seventh in the nation in the 200 and 15th in the 100.
