Barcelona make contact over deal for Porto star


The board at La Liga champions Barcelona have made contact with their counterparts at Porto, over a potential deal for Jakub Kiwior.


This comes amid the understanding that the Pole has been added to the Blaugrana’s list of defensive transfer targets for the summer.


It is of course common knowledge that the Camp Nou hierarchy are on the lookout for reinforcements at the heart of Hansi Flick’s backline with a view to next season.


After balking at the financial demands laid out by Inter Milan for chief target Alessandro Bastoni, though, Barca have been forced to broaden their search.


And as alluded to above, this week, the name of the latest stopper to have made his way onto the radar of the Catalans has emerged.


As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing Polish outlet ‘Meczyki’:


‘Deco has contacted André Villas-Boas, president of Porto, to inquire about the possibility of negotiating for Jakub Kiwior.’


Central defender Kiwior is fresh off a stellar campaign in Portugal, on loan from Arsenal. Porto are ready to make his signing a permanent one, but Barcelona could well test the Dragão brass with an ensuing offer of their own over the weeks ahead.
