Really need the win today to take the series from the Orioles and build some confidence that the DBacks can play with the big boys. Gallen needs to dominate and keep the DBacks in the thick of the three way race for the last WC with SF and Cincy.

Gallen is flushing the Cy Young right down the toilet with this stinker. Unfortunately, he may have the tired arm syndrome that happens to so many pitchers in Sept/Oct. Sad for him. Perhaps the pen can hold and the offense can at least take him off the hook for a loss.

3 ground balls, 3 outs. Even the Baltimore fans around me commented how unlucky he was in the first 2 innings with all the seeing eye ground balls. Nice to have knowledgeable fans around you.

This whole series seems to be plagued by terrible balls and strikes calls. I’m all for expanding the zone but when it’s as inconsistent as it’s been it has to be frustrating. Surprised no one’s been tossed over it yet

I agree. It’s not like both parties have tried to make it work. It’s just not happening, unfortunately.

DBacks went 1-5 against elite competition this week. If they make the playoffs as the last WC, anything can happen. However, Gallen's last two starts likely put a stake in the heart of his NL Cy Young quest - unless he manages to throw shutouts his last 5 starts.
