Austria Vienna double header could prove decisive

Away on Sunday and at home on Wednesday

This Sunday 19 April, our Red Bulls need to get back on track after their recent setback against LASK. We face FK Austria Vienna away at the Generali Arena at 14:30 CEST, before we host just a few days later.

If we want to achieve a successful at the end of the season, winning all our remaining matches is essential. While we have two consecutive fixtures against Austria Vienna, league leaders Sturm Graz have two matches against LASK. If Sturm drop points, we'll have it all in our hands again!

Like us, Austria Vienna has also had a difficult few weeks. A win against Hartberg was followed by a 1-4 defeat against LASK and a draw in the Vienna derby against Rapid. However, in our last encounter in February, Austria Vienna managed to end our boys' long winning streak, securing a 2-0 victory and three points at the Red Bull Arena.

The match will be broadcast as usual on Sky Sport Austria.

Remembering Alexander Manninger

Our team will wear black armbands in this match to commemorate our former player, Alexander Manninger.

Injury news

Takumu Kawamura (knee) and Justin Omoregie (shoulder) are unavailable for this match. Oliver Lukic is out for several weeks with a back injury. It remains to be seen whether Damir Redzic will be available after his thigh injury.

John Mellberg returned to team training a few days ago after a long injury layoff.

Views

As is often the case in the championship group, we expect another very close match. Austria have a wealth of experience and several seasoned players in their squad, who know exactly what's at stake. For us, it's crucial to learn from the last match against LASK and improve in various areas. We simply have to go into the game with the mindset that we need to give our all against Austria to turn the match in our favour.

Daniel Beichler

We're facing a difficult away game against opponents who play with great discipline and place a high value on defence. We'll prepare for that. Even more importantly, though, we need to focus on our performance, avoid mistakes as much as possible, and execute the tasks outlined in our game plan. The championship group is incredibly tight and often small details decide a game.
