SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 5 Viking acrobatics & tumbling team dropped its first meet of the season, falling 271.685-268.225 to No. 4 Iona inside the Elmen Center.

Notes
– Augustana lost their first match of the season while having one of its better performances as Iona scored its highest total of the season.
– The loss also moves the Vikings to 5-6 against ranked teams all-time and is just their second ranked loss in the last seven chances.
– The 268.225 team score is the fifth-highest score in program history
– The Vikings opened the night with a 38.100 in the compulsory event, the highest in program history by 0.250 points.
– AU followed it up with a 28.400 in the acro event
– It was another strong performance in the pyramid as the Vikings earned their second-best total in program history.
– After having their fifth-best score in the toss event, the Vikings improved on their tumbling score from last Tuesday to enter the team event with 177.775 points, over a point higher than their last competition.
– In a strong team event, the Vikings posted a 90.450, just .160 points behind Iona, even with a start value three points lower.
Augustana closes the regular season on Saturday, April 4 when it takes on Missouri State at 1 p.m., in the Elmen Center.
