The Auburn Tigers are set to hit the hardwood one last time during the 2026-27 season, facing the Tulsa Golden Hurricane for the NIT Championship at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Auburn earned its way to the NIT Championship by cruising past Illinois State, 88-66, on Thursday. Auburn shot 61% from the field and connected on 12-of-21 three-point attempts. The Redbirds stayed close with Auburn until the 2:38 mark in the first half, when Keyshawn Hall turned an Illinois State cough-up into a layup to push the Tigers ahead by 10 points. From that moment on, Auburn's lead never dipped below double digits.
Tulsa struggled in its NIT semifinal game with New Mexico by shooting 41%, but the Golden Hurricanes did what they did best by shooting the lights out from beyond the arc. Tulsa made 12 shots from three-point territory, with Ade Popoola connecting on four in the 74-69 win.
