Auburn men's golf junior Jackson Koivun was named the Jack Nicklaus Award winner for the second time in his career on Sunday, June 7.
After sweeping the national player of the year awards for the second time, Koivun became the third two-time Division I winner. He joins the company of Phil Mickelson and Bryce Molder. The Jack Nicklaus Award is presented to the national player of the year in all NCAA divisions, alongside NAIA and NJCAA.
The Auburn All-American accomplished something no other college golfer has done. Koivun is the first player in NCAA golf history to win all three player of the year honors (Haskins, Hogan, Nicklaus) multiple times.
Auburn has seen in Koivun help bring home an SEC Championship and its first two NCAA Championships in his three years on the Plains. This season, he recorded 13 starts with 12 top 10s, eight top fives, and six total wins. The junior set an NCAA record 68.20 scoring average.
The No. 1 Tigers claimed their second NCAA Championship after defeating UCLA 4-1 last Wednesday. Koivun went 2-1 in his matches during their run to the title.
