AUBURN — Coming into Auburn football's Big Cat Weekend, the Tigers were already a top choice for 2027 in-state recruit Jayden Aparicio-Bailey.
The four-star safety from Prattville High School said the Big Cat Weekend helped Auburn's case against other contending SEC schools like Georgia and South Carolina because it gave him the opportunity to connect with defensive coaches DeMarcus Van Dyke and Tim Banks on a level that wasn't football.
"Seeing how the connection outside of football, outside of the building and outside of the scheme was good," Aparicio-Bailey said.
Auburn has made it clear to Aparicio-Bailey that being an in-state recruit is an aspect it values, and the Tigers want to do what it takes to keep him playing close to home.

"The love you get from this place, I feel like being so close to home, obviously I'm a big family guy," Aparicio-Bailey said. "I can come here and already be comfortable, and kids from my school will come here too, so I'll have people here that I know."
Aparicio-Bailey currently has three official visits coming up with Clemson and Georgia first. Auburn will follow for Aparicio-Bailey on June 12. The senior from Prattville is currently the sixth-best recruit in Alabama, and the ninth-best safety in the state according to 247 Composite Rankings.
