Kevin Overton helped carry Auburn basketball to an NIT championship, and he is set to return for his senior season with the Tigers, announcing the news Tuesday on social media.
Overton joined Auburn ahead of the season after spending the prior season at Texas Tech and the year before at Drake. He played in all 38 games for the Tigers, making 36 starts and averaging 14.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
He played his best basketball at the end of the season, being named the NIT's Most Outstanding Player after averaging 18.6 points per game and shooting 53.7% from deep. He will look to build on that over the offseason ahead of his second season with the Tigers.
He was Auburn's best 3-point shooter on the season, making 41.3% of his attempts and taking 6.1 per game. The 6-foot-5, 100-pounder also shot 44.6% from the floor and 86.0% from the free-throw line.
He scored 20 or more points in 11 of Auburn's games, including in six of their final 11 games. He scored a career-high 29 points against NC State before scoring 26 points in the NIT championship game against Tulsa, including a late 3-pointer to send it to overtime.
Overton is the first Auburn player to formally announce their return for the 2026-27 season. However, promising guard Elyjah Freeman has hinted that he will also be returning for a second season on the Plains.
