Auburn basketball guards sophomore Tahaad Pettiford, junior Kevin Overton, and senior Keyshawn Hall were named to the 2026 NIT All-Tournament Team right after the championship game on Sunday, April 5.
Auburn brought home its first NIT Championship for the program after defeating Tulsa 92-86. Pettiford, Overton, and Hall each played a major role in the NIT Tournament and Championship game for the Tigers. The sophomore Pettiford hit a big three-pointer that immediately answered the three-pointer that Tulsa Ade Popoola hit to cut the lead to two. In the last 10 seconds of the ball game, Overton hit an even bigger three-pointer for the Tigers, this time tying the ball game to send it to overtime.
Overton's performance overall in the final landed him being named the NIT Most Valuable Player award. He scored 26 points, hitting 5-of-8 from three and assisting on three shots. As a whole, Overton scored 20 or more points in three of the five tournament games for the Tigers, with only one not reaching double-digits.
Though not scoring like he did all season, Hall did put up a respectable double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Throughout the tournament, his best game came in the semi-final against Illinois State, where he dropped 24 points on 62.5% shooting.
Auburn relied on these three guards heavily to lead the way offensively during their NIT Tournament championship run. Hall played his last game, but questions will remain for Pettiford and Overton about whether they will return to the program.
