Gilbert girls track and field athlete Aubrey Johnson and Nevada boys track and field athlete Connor Kunze were voted the Ames Tribune's female and male Athlete of the Week winners for March 29-April 4.

Johnson was voted female Athlete of the Week with 64% of the vote.

She placed first in the long jump during the North Polk quadrangular meet on March 31 at Alleman.

Johnson jumped 18 feet, 1.5 inches. That effort ranks fourth in the state, according to Varsity Bound.

Kunze earned male Athlete of the Week honors with 50% of the vote.

He won the 100-meter dash at the Nevada Invitational on March 31, with the fastest time in the state, according to Varsity Bound.

Kunze, the defending 3A state champion in the event, crossed the finish line in 10.48 seconds.
