The Atlanta Braves continue to play a quality brand of baseball, but star catcher Drake Baldwin is currently out with an oblique injury. On Tuesday, Baldwin received an important injury update. He enjoyed a strong start to the season, and the catcher is certainly hoping to return as soon as possible. Manager Walt Weiss reportedly said that Baldwin will not be activated from the injured list this homestand, but it could happen when the ball club returns back to Atlanta in the middle of June, according to Grant McAuley.

Baldwin, 25, earned the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2025. He enjoyed a stellar campaign. He was even better to begin the 2026 season, as Baldwin hit .303/.389/.543 across 48 games before landing on the IL.

In 2025, Baldwin hit 19 home runs all season. Baldwin had 13 long balls this season through the aforementioned 48 games. It seemed as if Baldwin was on track to perhaps earn MVP consideration.

The injury absence caused his momentum to come to a stop, but Baldwin could certainly continue to perform well once he returns from the injury. He could still earn serious All-Star consideration as well.

Barring any setbacks, Baldwin may be able to return in a couple of weeks. The Braves will closely monitor and provide updates on Drake Baldwin's injury status as they are made available.
