For the first time in two years, FSU softball has added a player from the transfer portal. Former Stetson first baseman Nicole Edmiaston committed to the Seminoles on Friday, according to Chris Nee of Noles247.
She was named the ASUN Player of the Year and helped lead them to a conference championship in her only season with the Hatters. She will add some needed power to FSU's lineup after hitting .453 with 23 home runs and 70 RBI. A rising senior, she finished with a .561 on-base percentage and a .900 slugging percentage in 170 at-bats and 57 starts.
She will have one season of eligibility with the Seminoles. While she has not made a formal announcement, the FSU softball account is now in her bio on social media.
The Freeburg, Illinois native walked 41 times and struck out 12. She broke the program record for homers, RBI, and total bases (153). She faced FSU twice in the Tallahassee Regional, going 2-8 with a home run, two runs scored, a walk, and a strikeout.
She started her career at Florida SouthWestern State, a Junior College in Fort Myers, Florida. She was a contributor from day one, hitting .383 with three home runs, 21 doubles, and 73 RBI in 117 games over two seasons.
She mostly played first base for Stetson, where she made five errors and had a .988 fielding percentage. FSU is expected to retain last year's starting first baseman, Hayley Griggs, but she is a candidate to start at either third base or shortstop after Isa Torres and Jaysoni Beachum entered the transfer portal.
