That was a fun game to watch. Nice job on the mound by Jacobs, Giblin and of course Carlon to close it out. Next up, the top seed UCLA.
What I like is Carlon only threw 18 pitches so it’s not like he can’t go again tomorrow…maybe even tonight if the situation calls for it but these relievers typically don’t go back to back games.

Giblin looked great until he didn’t but they got out of it. Big game tonight. ASU split with UCLA on the road earlier this year so that is good.

ASU put a bunch of pressure on themselves to get in and I think played pretty tight all season. They looked loose last night and even when things started to go sideways they didn’t lose their cool like they have during the season

Hopefully, with the way the Sun Devils finished the season, they feel like they are playing with house money.

UCLA beats ASU 11-5.

The Sun Devils face a monumental task to advance.

They have enough pitching to go at Irvine but after that…

Awful night by the Devils

I don't think this team has the horses to win two consecutive games against Irvine and UCLA. Really disappointing outing by the Sun Devils on Saturday.
Martinez picked the absolute worst game to have his worst game as a Sun Devil. One inning pretty much shot the whole game. Devils packed them after that 2nd although the offense all game wasn’t pretty.

Beat Irvine again and go from there. They have two starters they can throw out there. Carlon is good to go. I presume Giblin could maybe give an inning. They didn’t really burn any major bullpen arms last night but the bullpen has been an issue. All hands on deck. Obviously not the best situation but keeping the faith.

Man, the offense has fallen off a cliff. I assumed pitching could be rough but the offense just putting out ground out after ground out is ridiculous.

Well, there was hope there for a minute. Pitching strikes again, though.

I didn’t think it was ever in question I would expect him to get a one year extension. He doesn’t exactly make a ton of money so another year isn’t an issue.

Next year I would say he probably has to win 38-40 games and perhaps even host a regional. Some fans say he has to get to a super regional top save his job but I’m not so sure about that

I was worried about the big spenders coming around and poaching him off the roster. Didn’t happen and I think that speaks more to the culture Willie is building and his family being close by than money.

Plus, he will now get a full scholarship that he didn’t have before

Yes, I thought he might be SEC-bound.
