The 8U 007's, a softball team based in Ascension Parish, won the Louisiana A Class State Championship, coaches announced.
The team defeated Velocity Softball of Pineville, 7-6, to capture the title, per the announcement.
It was the third straight first-place finish and sixth of the season.
In the final inning of the game, Freya Gunness delivered the walk off hit to score Ainsley Matthews.
The team was led by the defense of Karoline Simoneaux, Harley Albert and Brynn and Ainsley Matthews.
Leading the way at bat were Briel Paola, Ember Williams, Kori Bourgeois, Reagan Durgapasad and Collyns Mock.
The 007's compiled a 55-11 during the season and were set to play in the Grand Slam World Series in Panama City Beach.
Coaches include head coach BJ Romano and assistant coaches Kyle Mock, Scott Matthews and Courtney Mock.
