Arsenal make major move for Vinicius Jr with ‘monstrous’ bid – Report

Arsenal’s long-running pursuit of Vinicius Jr has reportedly taken another significant step forward, with claims that the Premier League champions have now reached an agreement in principle on personal terms with the Real Madrid superstar.

According to HandofArsenal, the Gunners have agreed terms with the Brazilian international, while his representatives at Roc Nation are now set to enter negotiations with Real Madrid armed with what has been described as a “monstrous” offer.

Another twist in an increasingly fascinating saga​

This latest report arrives just days after Sky Sports suggested Arsenal’s hopes of signing Vinicius Jr had suffered a setback, with Real Madrid still optimistic that the winger would remain at the Santiago Bernabéu and eventually agree a new contract.

However, as we discussed at the time, Real Madrid’s confidence was always just one side of the story. While the Spanish giants may remain hopeful of keeping their star man, no agreement has yet been announced, leaving plenty of room for speculation over the player’s long-term future.

Earlier this week, reports also claimed Arsenal had no intention of abandoning their interest despite the difficulties involved in completing what would undoubtedly be one of the biggest transfers in football history.

While convincing Vinicius Jr of the project has always appeared likely to be one hurdle, negotiating a fee with Real Madrid has always looked the far greater challenge.

The report claims Roc Nation will now lead discussions with the Spanish club on Arsenal’s behalf, with the Gunners prepared to submit a huge financial package in an attempt to tempt Los Blancos into doing business.

Whether Real Madrid are prepared to entertain such an offer remains to be seen, particularly given Vinicius Jr’s importance to the club.

Whatever the outcome, Arsenal’s interest in Vinicius Jr shows no sign of fading.

After reports that the Gunners were refusing to walk away from the race, followed by suggestions Real Madrid remained confident of keeping their star winger, this latest claim adds another intriguing chapter to one of the summer’s biggest transfer stories.

If personal terms have indeed been agreed in principle, attention will inevitably turn towards whether Arsenal can persuade Real Madrid to negotiate.
