PORTLAND, Ore. — An already thin Arkansas basketball frontcourt could be without a its starting center in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The No. 4 Razorbacks (26-8) listed Nick Pringle as questionable to face No. 13 Hawaii on Thursday, March 19. The availability report was released Wednesday night.
Pringle did not participate in Arkansas' open practice on Wednesday. He had a sleeve on his right leg and stood off to the side for a majority of the workout, occasionaly going through dribbling drills, grabbing rebounds and passing to his teammates.
If Pringle can't play, added pressure will rest on the shoulders of Trevon Brazile and Malique Ewin. They are the only other two bigs who log meaningful minutes. Freshman Elmir Dzafic worked with those two at Wednesday's practice, but he has only played in seven games this season.
Pringle is averaging 4.6 points and 3.9 rebounds this season. He plays 19 minutes per game.
Pringle's absence could loom large against a Hawaii team that is strong in the frontcourt. Isaac Johnson is the 'Bows 7-foot center. He is the Big West Player of the Year and averages 14.1 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Karter Knox was listed as out, and he has not played since undergoing meniscus surgery in mid-February.
