LAWRENCE, Kan. — Arkansas baseball and Kansas never faced each other despite both being in the Fayetteville Regional during the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

One year later, the two programs will finally face off on the sport's biggest stage.

The Razorbacks (40-20) and Jayhawks (43-16) will tango in the winners bracket of the Lawrence Regional on Saturday, May 30. Arkansas beat Missouri State 9-5 on the first day, while Kansas edged Northeastern with a 6-3 victory.

Here are two things to watch and a prediction for the upcoming showdown between Arkansas and Kansas.

Can Hunter Dietz get back to his reliable self?

Arkansas won six consecutive games that Dietz started until a loss to Kentucky in the final weekend of the regular season. Dietz then lasted just two outs before exiting the SEC Tournament quarterfinal against Texas with a shin injury.

It's been three weeks since Dietz played a major role in an Arkansas victory. If the lefty pitches like he did during a dominant six-week stretch earlier this spring, the Hogs will have a great chance at advancing to the regional final.

Who has success with the long ball?

Arkansas did not hit a home run in the hitter-friendly Hoglund Ballpark on Friday. The Jayhawks smacked three.

That offensive recipe won't be sustainable for Arkansas during the remainder of the weekend. The Razorbacks must tap back into their power surge that spurred a late-season revival for their offense while limiting the Jayhawks on the other end.

Prediction: Arkansas advances to the Lawrence Regional Final

The Razorbacks will be on the road in a hostile environment, but they'll have the edge on the mound. That will be the difference as Arkansas puts itself one win away from another trip to the super regionals. Arkansas 6, Kansas 4.
