Arkansas baseball's offense is getting hot as the season hits its critical stretch, but the Hogs suffered an injury setback during their opening game of the SEC Tournament.
Kuhio Aloy was removed during the bottom of the third in the No. 7 Razorbacks (36-19) second-round matchup against No. 10 Tennessee (38-19) on Wednesday, May 20.
Aloy swung at a pitch from Tennessee starter Henry Blanco, but his front hand came off the bat. Coach Dave Van Horn and head trainer Corey Wood came out to check on Aloy, and after a brief discussion, Arkansas' designated hitter was removed from the game.
Aloy entered the weekend hitting .294 with nine home runs and 41 RBIs. After a midseason slump, the junior from Hawaii was starting to find his form thanks to a better approach at the plate. Van Horn routinely complimented Aloy in recent weeks for his focus on going the other way in batting practice and in games.
Carter Rutenbar entered the game for Aloy and struck out looking. The freshman got his career off to a blistering start and is hitting .305 on the year, but Rutenbar is 4 for 22 in his past eight games.
Arkansas led Tennessee 5-0 at the time of the injury thanks to three home runs from Zack Stewart and Camden Kozeal, with Stewart hitting a homer in each of his first two at-bats.
