Arizona women’s basketball: Incoming freshman Jasleen Green named MaxPreps Florida Player of the Year

Gatorade thinks incoming Arizona Wildcat Jasleen Green is the best girls’ basketball player in the state of Florida and it’s not alone. MaxPreps has joined Gatorade in naming the Arizona signee as the 2025-26 Florida Player of the Year.

Arizona head coach Becky Burke gushed about Green at her final radio show of the season back on Feb. 25.

“She’s a 5-10, like combo guard,” Burke told host Derrick Palmer. “She’s rated as the best guard in the state of Florida right now. She’s another top 50 recruit out of high school. It came down to us and Michigan State. It was the top 15 program in the country, and she chose us. She’s a three-level scorer. Creates for herself, creates for others, sits down and guards. She’s a big, thick, strong, physical body. You would never think the kid was in high school right now. She’s a gym rat. She’s just in love with the game. She’s a competitor. She’s a leader. Just super excited that we got her for sure.”

Arizona guards Lani Cornfield and Micky Perdue exhausted their eligibility after the 2025-26 season. Redshirt junior Tanyuel Welch has indicated that she will enter the transfer portal when it opens on Apr. 6. That currently leaves Sumayah Sugapong, Molly Ladwig, Kamryn Kitchen, and Mireia ‘MJ’ Jurado as the returning guards. Arizona also has another incoming freshman guard in Makayla Presser-Palmer, which would give the team six guards if no one else enters the portal. However, Burke said that one of her portal needs is an experienced point guard to replace Cornfield.
