I’m trying to discern what I think this season does for the program. It certainly didn’t build on last years experience finishing unranked and losing lastvtwbgames to Arizona and a bowl game. But at least it was a bowl season. I think this was a meh+ season as far as dilly building the program.

As previously mentioned, ASU didn't have about about a third of their team but nevertheless, a loss is a loss in a winnable game.

Lots of reserves and young players played today.

The biggest disappointment for me this year was that instead of augmenting the success of last year, Dillingham and his entire team came into the season looking smug and complacent, resting on the laurels of last year.

That's all on Dillingham who was supposed to be keeping focus on expanding the program. Obviously, something like injuries can't be helped, but the massive amount of mistakes, penalties, and sloppy turnovers week after week goes right to Dillingham and his staff.

I'm not sure what to think about the future with him running the program, but I think there's a lot more reason for skepticism that ASU is really "back" any more than they were previously under Edwards, Graham, Erickson, or Koetter. It could definitely be another case of a one or two season flash in the pan.

I am not a fan of athletes that COMMIT to a college football program, but as soon as they feel they have a shot at the NFL (legit or not) they say, "Screw you !!" to their teammates and coaches and the program and its fans.

I agree with you actually. I even said when there was all that drama about Michigan (which I still don't really believe was serious) and the extension that I am not even sure if he's going to really be a great coach.

He has some good attributes in relating to players. He is young. But I really agree with the take that they rolled into this season with a cocky attitude and got punched in the face before they started to take opponents more seriously.

NAU - we were out coached and multiple problems that haunted us later in the season popped up.

Ms St- stupid press conference where he crap talked Mississippi and guess what .... Walks into a buzz saw in the first half. Come back and are almost going to get away with it and make an AWFUL defensive call to blow it. A bad loss to what turned out to be a bad team

Now, from there, the season did not completely go off the rails. The Tech win was good, the highlight of the year. Getting THUMPED by au? Bad.

So, yeah, IDK. Far from certain we have a legendary (some day) coach in the house.

Refs put his hands on Breedlove to get him to stop talking and Breedlove pushed his hands away and was tossed
I truly believe that referees are not held to the accountability that they need to be. They have way more impact on a game than they should, and we never hear about them being punished, fined or fired.

They kept breaking down the third down conversion rate over the course of the season and that 100 Bajillion percent is a coaching issue. They continually try to run power runs up the middle with 5 foot 8 170 pound running backs like they still have skat. coaches needed to make that adjustment.

I agree to an extent. This was the last year teams were allowed to dump crap tons of money into the program the way Texas Tech, BYU, Utah, etc. did. Next year the rules changed to have more of a salary cap so we’ll see what happens then. There were also multiple players on our team that it felt like they quit way before the season even got started.

With Leavitt and Tyson injuries, seems like the team had to develop another identity with Sims. With that, I'm surprised they were able to win as many games with Sims despite mistakes, penalties, and sloppy turnovers. They got away with it especially against ISU and Colorado, but the last two games against Tucson and Duke just shows they're not able to just win their way out of sloppy football.
