Here is a roundup of the Arizona Interscholastic Association state boys and girls high school soccer 6A, 5A and 4A championship games played on Feb. 27-28, at Mesa High School. The Open Division finals take place on March 1.
6A: No. 2 Perry defeated No. 1 Pinnacle for the title on Feb. 28, coming back from a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 win. Perry's Sadie Herbert scored twice, including the go-ahead goal, while Layla Deleon added another for the Pumas. Herbert was named the game MVP.
5A: No. 5 Notre Dame Prep defeated No. 3 Arizona College Prep, 1-0, on Feb. 28. The Saints, who last won a title in 2024, got past No. 1 Campo Verde in the semifinal to make it to the title match.
4A: No. 2 Salpointe Catholic defeated No. 1 Crismon on penalty kicks, 5-4, on Feb. 27. The game was scoreless before moving on to penalty kicks to settle the title. The win marked the Lancers' eighth girls state title since 2017.
6A: The No. 1-seeded Liberty Lions defeated No. 6 San Luis, 2-1 in overtime on Feb. 28, completing a season that was dedicated to coach Tyler Hussey, who stepped back from coaching this season as he battles cancer. The team wore "Hussey Strong" shirts during workouts and talked about that in a story by The Arizona Republic last week. Caleb Anderson scored both Liberty goals, including the winner in OT.
5A: No. 1 Arizona College Prep defeated No. 10 Betty H. Fairfax, 2-1, also in overtime on Feb. 28. The Knights finished the season 21-2 overall, while Fairfax finished 17-5-1 on the season.
4A: No. 1 AIA Gilbert North defeated No. 6 Ironwood Ridge, 2-0, on Feb. 27. AIA Gilbert North last won a title in 2021. Garrett Baker and Seth McEuen scored for the Eagles.
