The Diamondbacks are bringing back right-hander Zac Gallen, a source confirmed on Friday, Feb. 13.
Gallen and the club are in agreement on a one-year deal worth $22.025 million, pending a physical, the source said.
Gallen is reuniting with the team with which he has spent almost the entirety of his major league career.
The move gives the Diamondbacks additional starter depth and seemingly could push right-hander Michael Soroka into a bullpen role, assuming the club sticks with a five-man rotation.
MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert was first to report the sides were close to a deal. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal first had the value of the contract.
